A reason to smile

The playful wind tried
to draw me in,
draw me out
of my sullen whim
I rebeled,
with all my might,
refused to give in,
give up
without a fight

The sun too gazed,
tried to erase
my darkened mood
with its charming rays
The rays
could not touch me
inject me,
infect me
with life,
the rays
could not affect me

But when
the silver moon beckoned
The temptress,
in her element,
fearless and strong,
giving the blue night
a reason to smile
I knew then,
I too had got mine.
A reason to
live and love and hope,
just be,
and the strength
to cope.
The truth was right there,
The moon was right..
The choice was mine.

Pretend games

I’ve thought of a game,
will you play with me?
Just close your eyes,
come away with me

This is how
all tales are spun
Lets pretend
we’re on the run
Escape into
the wild unknown,
fly where
no birds have flown

Up, up and over
the hills we go,
coming down’s easy,
we just slide through the snow.
There’s no one watching,
lets run real wild
Isn’t this great,
being a child?

There’s a stream up ahead,
lets splash right in,
pretend its summer
and enjoy a cool swim
Time flies so quick,
when you’re having fun
What a marvellous sight,
this setting sun!

And then, suddenly,
in the blink of eye…
I trip,
you fumble,
reach out,
but i tumble,
try to hold on
to my thoughts,
but now they’re
all jumbled…

The moment’s gone
the game is through
I loved our lil adventure
I hope you did too!

A golden sunset

Its been a glorius summer

Wouldn’t you say so, my love?

I can never forget

the soft summer sky,

You and I

floating on the velvet breeze

flitting from tree to tree

in that playful way

of ours.

Don’t you remember

chasing the sun?

flying too close,

getting burned

and then turning to chase

each other instead.

Losing ourselves

in the moment.

We painted a pretty picture

didn’t we?

As we sailed across the speckled sky

into the golden sunset

joined together

My heart still sings

when I think of it.

Now the winter has begun

and it promises to be

an especially cold one.

But I’m not scared

as long as I’m with you

So lets turn up our feet

to dry, lie

We may not still be here

when the summer dawns anew

but thats ok too

I know I’ve got many more lifetimes

and summers

left with you.

I’ve seen…

I’ve seen the motley shades of the sky
I’ve seen a little birdie learning to fly
I’ve seen the night steal over the sun
On a dreary winter afternoon

I’ve seen the sunkissed mountain peaks
I’ve seen caged animals trying to speak
I’ve seen a raging storm’s black dress
Fade away into nothingness

I’ve seen the azure waters of the sea
I’ve seen squirrels prancing on a tree
I’ve seen the mesmerizing sultry moon
Liven up even the most melancholy tune

I’ve seen some of nature’s prettiest sights
Sanguine mornings and dreamy nights
Masterstrokes of God’s skilled brush
That no evil in the world can touch
In every little thing there’s beauty to be found
All i have to do is to look around

Losing Myself

I was happy

& carefree

I was doing just fine

Along came

And ruined my life

I wasn’t worried about

The perils

Tomorrow might bring

They taught me to

Anticipate the future

& I lost my will to sing

I loved not knowing

Where my path

Would lead today

They taught me to

Plan ahead

& I felt my excitement ebb away

My life was a kaleidoscope

Of colors

In every shade

They taught me to

Walk the line

& my colors faded into grey

The little things in life

Used to please me

The most

They taught me

To focus on the bigger picture

& my pleasures became lifeless ghosts

So profound

Was the effect

Education had on me

I went from being

A vibrant soul

To a sophisticated wannabe

I still search for

My former self

In the depths of my heart

Who knows, maybe one day

I’ll find her

& we’ll make a fresh start

The Unwanted Visitor!

Oh, I see you’re back again!

Stop following me around, my friend

Haven’t we talked about this before?

You still don’t get it, you’re dense to the core!

There you sit, devising ways to ensnare me,

Go away, you don’t scare me!

Go and camp on someone else’ floor

You’re not welcome here anymore!

You’re a smooth operator, I know you are

I hate to admit it, but you do have some power

Once you’ve arrived, its hard to make you leave

I would talk about manners, but you don’t have any, I believe!

I despise your wicked, underhanded ways

How you sneak up undetected, avoiding my gaze!

But I’m smarter than you, I’ll have you know!

You’d better leave quietly, or I’ll make you go.

Don’t force me to run and throw you off my trail

‘Cos I’m sure that will really tip the scale

And if that doesn’t work, I can hop and skip

Then lets see how you manage to keep your grip!

Begone!!! You worthless load of extra pounds!

I don’t want to see you around!

Make no trouble and I’ll be nice

Else I’ll be forced to EXERCISE!!

No Worries!!

Oh my dear Worrier

Stay still for a moment please!

You’re right at Happiness’ door

Where did you lose the keys??

I try to quell your worries

As best as I can

But you’re always a step ahead of me

No matter how well I plan!!

You cook up your worries much faster

Than I can slew them down!

Oh you bothersome little pest

They ought to gift you a crown!!

Your talents know no bounds, I say

You can see what the future holds

And while your visions seldom come true

You worry yourself into dark holes!

And surely, oh but surely

You’re a magician too!

How else would you conjure them

Out of thin air, the way you do?!?

You’re forever doubled over

With the troubles of this world

One harmless prod and I’m sure

You’ll cry like a little girl!

For once, won’t you listen to me

And shed the extra weight?

Try, come on, try harder now

I know its not too late!

Take out the key and open that door

Happiness awaits!

You’ll see how beautiful the world really is

Once you step in through the gates!!
